Abstract: In today's global society, there is a greater need for individuals to have a higher level of mathematical problem solving skills. Teachers are challenged to assist students as they learn mathematical skills and to provide them with real world activities to apply these skills. Difficulty arises in deciding what type of mathematical instruction is most beneficial for students and how best to use technology, such as the Internet, as a resource. In this course, you will create inquiry-based math lessons integrating the NCTM standards and the Internet.
Outcomes:

After completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Examine and identify key NCTM standards appropriate for your students' needs.
  • Locate and evaluate Websites to support these standards.
  • Develop math lessons that align to the NCTM standards as well as local and state standards.
  • Develop inquiry-based math lessons that incorporate the Internet.
  • Develop a plan to assess students' understanding of the math concepts taught in each lesson.
Timeline: You will have 12 weeks to complete this course. If you wish to complete the course after this period, you must re-enroll and pay any applicable enrollment fee.
