Title: "Multicultural Curriculum and the Internet: How can Internet resources enhance multicultural education in the classroom?"

Abstract: Creating a culturally rich landscape and providing access to first hand cultural experiences in a classroom hundreds of miles from the country of interest is challenging. Yet teachers interested in providing a multicultural curriculum must find ways to meet this challenge. Locating and utilizing resources is critical to effectively unlock new worlds and provide students with an element of immersion. Teachers can use technological tools, such as the Internet, to complement the resources available in their communities. In this course, you will design a teaching unit utilizing community resources and the Internet to help you advance multicultural studies in your own classroom.
Outcomes:

After completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Discuss relevant issues related to multicultural education in your classroom;
  • Develop goals and student outcomes to support a multicultural teaching unit in your classroom;
  • Identify quality community and internet resources to support your multicultural unit;
  • Create activities and a plan for implementing a multicultural teaching unit in your classroom.
Timeline: You will have 12 weeks to complete this course. If you wish to complete the course after this period, you must re-enroll and pay any applicable enrollment fee.
