| Abstract: |
Preserving history is an important human activity. Students should grow to understand and appreciate the value of events of history and the place where those events took place. However, many students live in isolated areas. Unless they live near an important historical site, students often don't have the opportunity to see the "places of history" firsthand.
To help create experiences of historical significance for students, the Internet offers unlimited resources that can be invaluable to helping students develop an appreciation of history. The Internet can allow students to see historical sites and engage in research about them.
By taking students on virtual field trips, teachers can expose them to important and exciting locations, information and perspectives that before would not have been possible. In this course, you will develop an electronic field trip that integrates the use of the Internet to promote student inquiry as they visit a battlefield of the American Civil War. |
