| Abstract: |
Since the 1980s, the explosion in the entertainment industry, including movies, cable television and personal computers, has changed the ways in which our society looks for and accesses information. Our educational system is faced with a new set of student expectations spawned by the fast-paced, media-rich world in which information is presented in an exciting and engaging format, and students have a need to find answers quickly and efficiently. The challenge resulting from this change in student expectations is to develop units that involve students in inquiry-based activities that promote the use of current technologies and connect to their world outside the classroom. This approach is motivational and exciting. A unit utilizing video production addresses this challenge by using the very media as a teaching tool to address a variety of content and technology standards. |
