| Abstract: |
As multiculturalism becomes more and more prevalent in today's society, teachers need to find ways to help students learn more about the world around them, particularly motivating students to think critically about different ideas and analyze data in order to develop their own understanding of it.
Helping students learn about global cultural economic differences can be a challenging task for teachers because there are a variety of different cultures that exist in the world that impact both local and global economics. It is easy to give students "facts" about a certain culture; however, the challenge lies in helping students find answers to their own questions, critically view them, and then transform them into their own understanding. By using an inquiry learning approach, students can learn how to question, research information about cultures to answer their questions, and then analyze the information to try to make sense out of it.
In this course, you will design a technology-integrated inquiry unit that will help students use the Internet to gather information in comparing the economics of different cultures. Your unit will include instructional goals, content and technology standards, questions, resources, activities, processes, assessments, and an implementation plan. This inquiry unit should also include strategies to help your students improve their understanding of the cultural and economic differences between different countries.
