Author: Joan Weathers

Instructor: LTTS Facilitator
Abstract: The worldwide impact of technology creates a need for teachers to develop plans that include the Internet and real-world learning experiences for students. At the same time, the teacher is expected to integrate technology and meet requirements in all content areas, while meeting individual student needs. One way for teachers to compact curriculum and provide quality instruction is through the use of technology-embedded, thematic units. Thematic units correlate and compact curriculum standards across several disciplines. They provide a system for using the Internet and other technologies in a way to enrich the curriculum, while meeting the diverse needs of students in a classroom.
