Locating quality information on the Internet
presents a variety of challenges. Users need to be able to sort through
the multitude of information to locate the most relevant pieces. Many teachers
avoid using the Web as a resource in their classrooms because students have
not acquired the skills needed to use the Internet effectively. WebQuests
are one way that the Internet can be meaningfully incorporated into the
curriculum. In this module, you will design a WebQuest to enhance a classroom
unit or a particular curriculum area and engage your students in meaningful
research.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completion of this module, you will be able to:
- Explain the characteristics of an effective WebQuest;
- Design a WebQuest that is meaningful for your students and your curriculum;
- Create a rubric for evaluating student performance using your WebQuest;
- Develop a plan for integrating your WebQuest in a way that supports your
curriculum.
