Conference Update
March 10, 2003
In December, LTTS exhibited the LTTS project and courses at the National
Staff Development Council’s annual conference in Boston, MA. Many
staff development professionals stopped by and learned how LTTS courses
can fit into an existing district professional development plan, or
be used to create an innovative blended approach to staff development
using a combination of face to face workshops and online courses.
In January, we exhibited the LTTS program at the American Association
of Colleges of Teacher Education annual conference in New Orleans, LA.
AT AACTE, our discussions centered on using LTTS courses within the
Teacher Education curriculum (especially to supplement “Technology
in Education” courses). We also described the LTTS Consortium
program, whereby a Teacher Professional Development organization can
join with us in developing LTTS courses and offering these courses for
professional development or university credit to in-service and pre-service
teachers.
Also in January, we exhibited the LTTS project and courses at the Indiana
Computer Educators (ICE) annual conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Our concurrent session, “Online Professional Development for Teachers:
Integrating Technology and Supporting Inquiry” focused on how
our courses can help teachers integrate technology into their classrooms
and the many benefits that past learners have commented on such as:
self-paced, anytime, anywhere learning, facilitated feedback, and quality
web resources. We provided participants with details for both individual
teacher enrollment and subscription rates for groups of teachers in
a school or district.
LTTS will be presenting papers or exhibiting at several events this
